Negotiating With Bandits Not Best Solution: Abdulsalami Abubakar

Image
NEGOTIATING WITH BANDITS NOT BEST SOLUTION: Abdulsalami Abubakar Former Head of State, General Abdusalami Abubakar (Rtd) has said negotiating with terrorists and bandits is not the best way to tackle insecurity. Abubakar said this while speaking to newsmen after a meeting with the Nigerian Governors Forum in Minna. He mentioned that the best way to solve Nigeria’s banditry and kidnapping problems is to ensure that the crimes are not committed in the first place. While admitting that sometimes negotiations might be used to save the lives of kidnap victims, General Abdulsalami said Nigeria needs tight security that can checkmate the miscreants before they strike. Speaking on the Kagara abduction, Abdulsalami said it will be unwise for anyone to, however, storm a hideout of bandits to rescue students. “Even if anyone knows the location of students, it will be foolhardy to storm the place in a bid to fight and bring them back. In the process, some innocent lives will be lost. He, however, ...

In a strongly worded response, the diaspora body expressed shock, disappointment and anger at the constant denigration of Plateau and its citizens by the same person who is meant to be the chief advocate and vanguard of the state. It wondered how a Governor can be so careless, callous and insensitive to perpetually play the card of the oppressor and not that of the people who gave him the mandate. *PEOPLES DEMOCRATIC PARTY(PDP) PLATEAU STATE CHAPTER, 20/22 YAKUBU GOWON WAY OPP NTA JOS*  *24TH DAY OF FEBRUARY 2021* *PDP TO LALONG : GO BACK TO SCHOOL AND LEARN HOW TO TALK* The reckless response of the APC to the genuine concerns of Plateau people on the recent irresponsible  comments of Governor Lalong leaves one with no feeling other than that of utter disappointment and disgust. We continue to wonder how a sane person or party would condone such shameful and self indicting comments of a supposedly elected governor against his people before the entire world, describing it  myopically  as "a storm in a tea cup" Such an idiomatic sense needs recalibration. The APC in its desperate attempt to do damage control has created more  harm to Lalong and  its party and have  further exposed their cluelessness in governance. The writer, in his usual garrulous, uncouth manner, and attempt to divert peoples attention from the colossal disgrace and failures of ...

PRESS RELEASE  STOP MAKING A STORM IN A TEA CUP, APC BERATES PLATEAU PDP OVER GOVERNOR LALONG'S COMMENTS. The confused faction of the PDP in Plateau State is at it again! - making a storm in a tea cup over Governor Lalong's comments during an interview on Channels TV on Tuesday 23rd February 2021 where he was alleged to have said that not only herdsmen carry arms. Predictably, the ever crude factional spokesman of the moribund party in Plateau State John T. Akans came out smoking from all cylinders in an attempt to resurrect the evaporated fortunes of the rejected PDP which has since been rejected by the good people of Plateau.  Apart from his mumbled rambling in the uncoordinated Press Release, he was sighted on different social media platforms dissipating energy in trying to make maximum gains from the Governor's appearance on the program. He viciously circulated a 34 seconds portion from the almost one hour interview with the hope to inflict massive damage on the Governo...

Image
FARMERS ALSO CARRY AK-47 RIFFLES, WHY I REJECTED RUGA IN PLATEAU STATE - GOVERNOR LALONG WHY I REJECTED RUGA IN PLATEAU STATE - GOVERNOR LALONG  Governor of Plateau State Simon Bako Lalong has given reasons why he rejected the Rural Grazing Area Program, commonly referred to as RUGA from being implemented in Plateau State.  Lalong who was speaking on Channels TV programme Sunrise Daily in Jos said the RUGA intiative was a strange concept that came after the National Economic Council thoroughly debated, scrutinised and adopted the National Livestock Transformation Programme (NLTP) as a very comprehensive and inclusive idea to tackle herder-farmer clashes and other associated challenges.  He said because the RUGA initiative did not have the buy in of stakeholders and fell short of addressing the concerns of most Governors, it was not possible to embrace it. This he said further fueled the misconception over the NLTP which is neither for one ethnic group nor meant for land g...

But they (herders) also want solution; by the time you explain to them, they also want to stay in one place, they would also want to keep away from carrying AK-47.
