KANKE HOSTS 17 LEGISLATIVE CLERKS OF PLATEAU STATE...CALLS TO SPEED UP HARMONIOUS WORKING RELATIONSHIP. Report by Boniface George
Legislative Clerks of the 17 Local Government Areas on the Plateau today converged in Kwal, legislative chamber of Kanke for their quarterly meeting to fine-tune better ways of handling legislative matters across the local Governments in Plateau State.
Addressing the August visitors on behalf of the Executive Chairman Hon Nde Emmanuel Lar the Director of Personal Management (DPM) of Kanke LGC Mr Joseph Ishaku Lenge welcomed all the clerks and assured them of the most Serene environment for positive deliberations that will uplift the standard of legislation at the grassroots.
In his welcome speech, leader of the forum Mr Ishaku Dimas (Clerk Bassa LGC) flanked by his secretary Mr Laurence Marshal (Clerk Mikang LGC) remarked that the essence of the quarterly meeting is to create a harmonious working relationship, strengthen and run a modern Local Government legislative businesses where true democratic devidends will reach electorates in the state.
Mr Dimas said effective legislative clerical performance will motivate and speed up elected councilors especially those not contributing to motions and bills to tidy up for greatness.
It is worth noting here that the role of legislative Clerks refers to secretary of the legislative chamber, most senior administrative officer responsible for ensuring that its business runs smoothly. This May encompass keeping custody of documents lain before the house, received, or produced; allocating office space; enrolling of members, and administering an oath of office etc.
