Fier Community and Cultural Development Association [FECCODA] has condemned in totality the recent looting as well as act of vandalism on public and private properties in Jos and Bukuru as embarrassing .  As normalcy resumes, a statement by it's National President Dah. Edward Sunkur cautioned sons and daughters of Fier nation not to participate in any plans or acts capable of resurrecting recent ugly experience in the state that will attract the wrath of Government. The statement adds that Fier as a people will not tolerate criminality and called on it's branch officials to disassociate itself from hoodlums and vandals who have no regards for peaceful coexistence. Sunkur assured his readiness to partner with the state government in finding lasting solutions to lingering national challenges as envisage by the youths.

PRESS STATEMENT  GOVERNOR LALONG DIRECTS LIFTING OF CURFEW Based on the assessment of the security situation in Plateau State and upon the recommendation of the Plateau State Security Council, the Executive Governor of Plateau State Rt. Hon. (Dr) Simon Bako Lalong has approved the relaxation of the curfew imposed in Jos South and Jos North Local Government Areas with effect from Wednesday 28th October 2020. By this directive, the curfew is hereby relaxed to commence from 6am to 12 midnight beginning from Wednesday 28th October untill further notice. No movement will be allowed between the hours if 12 midnight to 6am.  Citizens are advised to go about their lawful businesses without any fear as security agencies have been directed to ensure effective patrols and surveillance to protect lives and property. PRESS STATEMENT PLATEAU STATE SECURITY COUNCIL MEETS OVER LOOTING AND CURFEW The Plateau State Security Council has again met to deliberate on the security situation following the massive looting that has been perpetrated across the State in the last two days. Briefing newsmen after the meeting held at Government House Rayfield Jos, Secretary to the Government of the State Prof. Danladi Atu said so far, the situation is calm but still fluid as there are still threats to attack other public and private businesses as well as individuals. He said the Council agreed to further fortify all check-points in Jos South and Jos North Local Government Areas to give effect to the curfew imposed in order to restore peace that will determine the next line of action. RE-INSTAINMENT OF 24-HOUR CURFEW IN JOS SOUTH JOS AND NORTH LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREAS. Fellow citizens of Plateau State, you will recall that I announced a 24-hour curfew in Jos South and Jos North Local Government Areas on 20th October 2020 in response to the disturbances that arose when hoodlums hijacked the ENDSARS protests leading to the destruction of lives and properties.  After an assessment of the situation, the curfew was relaxed from the hours of 6am to 8pm from yesterday 23rd October 2020. However today, some hoodlums broke into the warehouses where palliatives delivered to the State by the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development last week were stored awaiting distribution and carted them away. PRESS STATEMENT  PLATEAU GOVERNOR DIRECTS REOPENING OF SCHOOLS  Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong has directed the re-opening of all public and private primary and secondary schools across the State from 30th October 2020. This follows the engagement with all stakeholders and setting up of mechanisms for observing COVID-19 protocols in all schools in the State.  By this directive, schools are to resume academic activities for 3rd term and ensure they operate within the guidelines issued by the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 for the safety of students and teachers.  Already, various trainings and engagements have been held to orientate school principals and teachers on basic operational requirements. Prof. Mathew Sule, Chairman of the board disclosed this during a press briefing on Tuesday in Jos. Sule said the development followed the intense screening exercise recently conducted by the board for teachers in the state. This feat was achieved through a coordinated and the aggressive raid operations against identified armed bandits’ camps in Plateau State.The troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN killed the notorious bandit leader along with some of his fighters following a daring raid on the bandits’ hideout at Tafawa village in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State on 5 October 2020. Troops recorded this latest success following credible and actionable intelligence from local sources on the whereabouts of the notorious bandit leader hibernating in the general area. Lalong Directs Security To Go After Killers Attacking Villages. Following another attack on Wereng village, Kuru Station in Riyom LGA of Plateau State which occurred on Monday night where about 6 people were killed, Governor Simon Lalong has directed security agencies to do all that is necessary to apprehend the killers and also halt pockets of isolated attacks on innocent people. Governor Lalong in a statement expressed fury over the killings, describing such recent attacks as worrisome and unacceptable which must be stoped immediately. While sympathizing with families of the victims and survivors, Lalong asked security agencies to redouble their efforts in apprehending the attackers, having achieved some successes in other recent cases.He said "We will not allow these ugly incidences to return where helpless and innocent people are murdered in cold blood for no reason. These killers must be fished out at whatever cost and brought to justice. I urge the people to cooperate with the security agencies by providing useful information that will facilitate the arrest of the attackers".He called on citizens of the State to increase vigilance particularly in intelligence gathering and information sharing through the traditional rulers and other early warning systems of Operation Rainbow. Following another attack on Wereng village, Kuru Station in Riyom LGA of Plateau State which occurred on Monday night where about 6 people were killed, Governor Simon Lalong has directed security agencies to do all that is necessary to apprehend the killers and also halt pockets of isolated attacks on innocent people.  Governor Lalong in a statement expressed fury over the killings, describing such recent attacks as worrisome and unacceptable which must be stoped immediately.  While sympathizing with families of the victims and survivors, Lalong asked security agencies to redouble their efforts in apprehending the attackers, having achieved some successes in other recent cases.
