FCE PANKSHIN: Two Former Students Of The Federal College Of Education Pankshin Have Bagged The Presidential NYSC Merit Award For Outstanding Performance During Their Service Years. Report by Istifanus Kyakmut .

Two former students of the Federal College of Education Pankshin have bagged the Presidential NYSC Merit Award for outstanding performance during their service years. The affected students are Lar Nacit and Agbo Alice who both graduated from the English and Admin and Planning Departments respectively from the College. The two were among the one hundred and sixty eight (168) Corpers who emerged winners from the 2015, 2016 and 2017 service years nationwide. The College graduands recipients who served in Gombe and Sokoto states during their service years had also earlier bagged the First Lady's Award Certificate by the First Ladies of the affected states. Speaking on behalf of the awardees during a visit to the College, Lar Nacit said they were back to their Alma-Mata to show appreciation to the authorities for moulding them well. The Commissioner for  Higher Education in Plateau state, Kak-mena Audu was in the  Plateau state College Of Health Technology, Pankshin, for the continuation of the inspection of all tartiary institutions in the state in preparation for the re-opening of schools as directed by the Executive Governor of Plateau state, Rt Hon Simon Bako Lalong. The Commissioner was impressed by the pre-cautionary measures put in place by the College management for the re-opening of the college and he urged them to put more effort in making sure that  all safety protocol and directives in regards to the COVID-19 measures are put in place before the re-opening date. The Executive Chairman of Pankshin Local Government Council, Hon Sir John Damap (KSM), will on Tuesday 22nd September, 2020 bid farewell to staff of Pankshin Local Government Council who were recently   transferred to other local government councils across the state. In a statement signed by the Director  Social Services Department, Grace Goler, says that the Executive Chairman of the council will also welcome staff of the council who were also posted to Pankshin local government council.  According to Goler, the occasion starts by 10am prompt, at the council's secretariat, on Tuesday, 22nd September, 2020. Recall that the Plateau state local government service commission, transferred over 7,000 unified staff across the seventeen local government councils in the state.

The Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Pankshin chapter, has donated a Computer set to the Nigerian Police force division in Pankshin local government area. Presenting the item to the divisional police officer of the area CSP Yakubu Balami, the former chairman of the PCRC central zone, Chief Enoch Adelola, says the presentation was to create synergy between the police and the Police Community Relations Committee in its continued fight to rid the local government out of crime and criminality. Chief Adelola, who is also the Oba yoruba of Pankshin, pointed out that the PCRC expressed concerned that official or security reports of the police which are supposed to be secret are being typed outside which according to them is not healthy for the police, hence with the presentation of the computer set it will go a long way in assisting the division. GRA Community In Pankshin lga embarks On Self Help Project

Residents of GRA in Pankshin Local Government Area have embarked on the rehabilitation of some  streets in the area. In a chart with our reporter, the chairman GRA phase-1, Parks Jings,  explained that they embarked on the project in other to ease the hardship experiencing by motorists and commuters plying the road most especially during rainy season. Mr Jings noted that the money used for the project is from the individuals contribution within them, haven done the electrification of the area.  According to him this is a Government Reserve Area, phase-1 which is supposed to be the responsibility of the government to construct the road, but the community decided to embarked on the communal effort  in order to complement government efforts in improving on the socio-economic activities and reduce the plight of residents plying it, as government cannot do everything alone for its people. A top member of the gang led by Terwase Akwaza aka Gana, has made some explosive revelations about the deceased. In an interview with The Nation, the militant who gave his aliases as ‘Major and Aondehemba’, vowed that the battle will continue. He revealed that Gana, killed by the Nigerian Army last week, had an inkling of his death and handed over all his powers to his deputy. The Ad'Idoma of Pankshin and Kanke Local Government Areas, and the entire Idoma community, joined people of Pankshin and Kanke Local Government areas, in mourning the demise of the Long Mhiship and interim President of the Pankshin and Kanke joint traditional council, Nda Wesley Mulak. In a condolence message  through the chairman, Idoma  welfare Association, Dr Audu Ochigbo,  the community says the Monarch left at the time his fatherly advice and vital roles are needed the most and will be greatly missed, particularly his contributions in the area of security and peace building. The community urged the Mhiship Chiefdom, the Government and his entire family to bear the irreparable loss, as the deceased lived a fulfilled life while on earth and prayed God to grant him eternal rest.

The death of Long Mhiship and  chairman of the Pankshin/Kanke joint traditional council, Nda Wesley Mulak, has been described as a big lost to Pankshin and Kanke Local Government areas. In a condolence message signed by the Oba Yoruba of Pankshin , Chief Enoch Adelola , says  Even though we are all aware that death is inevitable, it takes us by surprise anytime it comes. We thank God for giving our Father long life with good health with many years on the throne. You will forever remain in our heart as a Father who carried everyone along irrespective of tribe nor religion. Baba was fondly called the LIBRARY OF PANKSHIN LOCAL GOVERNMENT and PROFESSOR OF TRADITIONAL RULERS because of his wealth of experience in life.   Adieu Baba! Though gone never to return, you will forever be remembered for your life time dedication and commitment to the Pankshin/Kanke traditional council. So far a total of Nine Thousand Four Hundred and Twelve(9,412) applicants out of the about Eleven Thousand(11,000) candidates who applied for Constable Recruitment into the Nigeria Police Force across the seventeen Local Government Areas of Plateau State have been screened. This was disclosed to news men in Jos by the Commissioner Representing Plateau State at the Federal Character Commission Mr Stephen Jings at the end of the exercise at the Plateau State Police Headquarters in Jos. Jings revealed that so far the exercise has been a success and commended the recruitment officials from the Force Headquarters led by Deputy Commissioner of Police,DCP Fom Pam for a job well done, adding that the process has been hitch free and transparent. He said from this point, the next stage will be the Computer Based Test (CBT) by those successfully screened at a date soon to be announced by the Police Authorities.
